Dollhouse in a suitcase
Note: I wrote this a year ago, and many of these items aren't available in the webshop (although I do have the slide, crib, and sofa). If you're looking for... Read more...
Ferm Living dollhouse by Prchtg
When Fleur and Jessica from the blog PRCHTG, also bloggers for vtwonen, asked me if I wanted to collaborate with them, I didn't hesitate. And when they said they wanted to furnish the beautiful Ferm Living dollhouse with items from Skattich I was completely won over. What a beautiful house! So I made and picked out all sorts of lovely things for them, including the new colored knotted cushions or knotted pillows... whatever you want to call them. They both had these themselves, so they were at the top of... Read more...
Jupiduu miniature slide for the dollhouse
I made a miniature Jupiduu wooden slide for the dollhouse. It turned out really well, and the best part is that no saw was used. I used very thin balsa wood, which you can carefully cut with a sharp knife. It can break during processing, so you have to be patient and not rush things. I wanted to share this DIY with you, so I took pictures and drew a pattern. The pattern is pretty self-explanatory. The pattern is for illustrative purposes only, as you can basically just use it.... Bohemian dollhouse beach house
I'm so excited about my new project! I'm working on a dollhouse beach house that will have a lovely summery style: bohemian chic, but mainly with white, natural materials, wood, and a touch of gold here and there. Sometimes I just feel like tackling a new project, and my inspiration for my Scandinavian dollhouse had waned a bit. So when I saw the dollhouse where it all started tucked away in a corner somewhere, I decided to see if I could do something with it. Someone suggested to me on... Read more...
Wallpaper for the modern dollhouse
It's been a bit busy, so I just haven't gotten around to writing the blog post about dollhouse wallpaper. I also hesitated for a while because I wasn't sure how to approach it. That's why I've created a separate Pinterest page called "Wallpaper for the Modern Dollhouse." Whenever I find something I like online, on Instagram, or on Pinterest, I'll post it there. I'll also briefly explain how I often approach wallpaper, and below I'll provide a few links to websites I really enjoy. What often happens to me is... Read more...
Hudson and Harlow's beautiful dollhouse
This is the beautiful Hudson and Harlow dollhouse. Have you ever seen such a beautiful dollhouse? I had to blink a few times before I realized it was a miniature and not a real house! Alicia, from the Instagram page Hudson and Harlow, is a home decor stylist and mother of two. Alicia has attempted to partially recreate her own house in miniature. Well, at least her children's rooms. Well, I'm jealous! I think she's done a beautiful job. I've been almost obsessed (well, almost...) with all the miniature houses... Read more...
Hip round jute rug for the dollhouse tutorial
Here, as promised, is the explanation of the modern, trendy jute rug for the dollhouse. After finding suitable rope in my dad's craft room (but he can't remember where he bought it, bummer!), I started by drawing and calculating. I made circles with a compass and counted and counted and counted again... If you're okay with the size of my rug, you can skip that step. My rug has a diameter of 13 cm. What else do you need now: • Jute rope • Glue (I have tacky glue from... Read more...
The wooden floor in my dollhouse
I've been asked several times what I made the wooden floor in the dollhouse out of and how. Here's the how and why 🙂 I ordered wooden tongue depressors online. If you do a quick Google search, you'll quickly find some, and they're not even very expensive. I think you can also get them at the pharmacy. I was really looking for tongue depressors because they're bigger than popsicle sticks, and I'd read somewhere that they're easier to cut. Since I wanted to have the entire house (so, six rooms)... Dollhouse kitchen
I was going to talk about the kitchen in the dollhouse, so here goes. I have to admit, it feels a bit strange to write a whole post about it. But I think it'll be a long one! Where should I begin? I started with a sort of mood board on Pinterest. I create a hidden board for it, which I then delete later. I've already seen so many beautiful houses that I still regularly swoon over. They inspire me immensely. One of the large kitchens I came across and... Read more...
Progress in renovating the dollhouse
The Del Prado dollhouse is going well. I've been crafting a lot lately, I really love it. I've also taken lots of photos, most of which I've posted on Instagram. Lately, I've been constantly torn between my dollhouse hobby and the webshop. November and December were quite busy: with the webshop and with the transition to my new job. Both were very positive developments, but they made me realize two things: I missed crafting, and I missed writing about crafting. So I started a new dollhouse project; see also the... Read more...
New project: Renovating the Del Prado dollhouse
Oh dear, the crafting fever is back 🙂 I came across the most beautiful 1:12 dollhouses on Pinterest, and yes, that's when the itch comes back. So I went hunting, and a woman in Amsterdam let me borrow the Del Prado dollhouse for free. Well, a dollhouse that's partly assembled and partly still in its original packaging. The Del Prado dollhouse is a kit released in 1998/1999. You could save up and receive a new part every week. I've read that it's not easy to make it into a decently... Read more...
What to look for when choosing toys
And most importantly: what should you look for when choosing good toys? I'll tell you what I consider when searching and selecting items for the webshop. 1. My starting point: You can do more with less! Children need toys. They benefit several aspects of their development. When the toys align with a child's interests and development, it's unnecessary, and often even a nuisance, for children to have a ton of toys around them. A basic selection with a few good items is more than enough. 2. What exactly can they... Read more...
