New on the site is the dollhouse of the month. And for this first month, it's Annemieke Molenaar's beautiful house! When I asked her to explain her love of decorating dollhouses and how she acquires all the items, she was happy to oblige. So here's her story.
Annemieke: A year ago, I fell in love with a dollhouse I found on an interior design page. I've always been fascinated by miniatures. Not just any miniatures, but lifelike, tiny furniture and accessories. I built one house after another. Due to lack of space, I sold about eight of them. And they all found good homes.
My first house was an Ikea house. It's a sort of display cabinet shaped like a dollhouse. It quickly became overflowing, so I decided to sell it and move on to a bigger one. But it didn't stop there; one theme after another came up. After all that work, I really wanted to create a permanent home. So I came back to the Ikea house. This model is called the Flisat.
How did I go about it?
I had my dear husband assemble the house first. Then I painted everything I wanted white. I used primer first and then matte paint for the topcoat. Everything is water-based so it stays nice and white and doesn't smell as bad. I had already collected all the prints I definitely wanted to use. Downstairs is the beautiful vtwonen wallpaper. I got it from the vtwonen website and reduced it slightly before printing. My computer can automatically select it. Upstairs is wallpaper by the artist Laura Blythman. I used the same approach here. I wanted a rugged and industrial look for the bathroom. For this, I used the cardbook from Action and opted for a concrete look for the floor. On the wall is a honeycomb pattern. I got it from a printable on the Skattich website. After that, comes the fun part... decorating.

Downstairs, I ordered a corner sofa, rug, cushions, basket, fur throw, and stove from Skattich. The table is made from a slice of a tree trunk with wheels underneath, which came off a miniature shopping cart. I bought this in the Facebook group "Modern Dollhouse" from another creative person. My favorite item is also in the living room: the miniature Eames rocking chair. Bought from Superstudio Nederland. Unfortunately, the shipping costs are high, but it was worth it. The Magis Me Too Puppy is from Shapeways.

I made the kitchen table myself. I used mini crates for cabinets, and there's an Aga on display. Both were purchased at Skattich, as was the tableware on the table. The cake was made by Madame Mini via Marktplaats.

The bathroom has a TV stand that I transformed into a vanity. Skattich also made the sinks. The jute rug, plant, and basket are also from them. The beautiful bathtub was 3D printed by someone from the Facebook group "Modern Dollhouse." The toilet is from Hape, a brand that sells dollhouse furniture. In the bedroom, there's a beautiful double bed with a lovely bedspread and a chest of drawers. Also purchased from Skattich. For decor, I had a lovely macramé hanger made by Knottingonthewall via Instagram, and my dreamcatcher was handmade by Catchuponthestars, also via Instagram. I hope you find my tips and fun dollhouse addresses useful.
