In development: our own skattichpop
This week I started with a new idea that I'm really excited about: my own skattich doll with accessories. My initial idea was to make two more Maileg-style bunnies with a skattich twist for the dollhouse, but then I suddenly realized I want to design, create, and create my own doll. I use the word "want" deliberately, because knowing me, it's doubtful whether something like that will work out, as it often doesn't quite turn out exactly as I envisioned. But I'm excited to make it a success! So, first,... Read more...
Maileg cabinet look-alike
Last Saturday, I went to a flea market nearby with my mom and picked up some really nice things! Including this Easter egg cabinet (at least, I think that's what it's for, but I'm not entirely sure). When I saw it lying there, I immediately recognized its resemblance to Maileg's mesh cabinet. Judge for yourself: Besides the roof, it's quite something, right? And honestly, for 30 cents! Yes, really, €0.30, thirty cents! I even got a mini crocheted doily to go with it ☺️ I'm going to try removing the... Read more...
The dollhouse is turning out beautiful!
Here are the first photos of the dollhouse for the girl. It's going to be the dream house for Maileg bunnies and mice. Our grandpa is busy working on it, and we think it's going to be beautiful! The lower level will have a drawer for all the Maileg furniture and other items, and the upper level will have an extra attic with a small staircase and a stair gate (mice love attics, right?). All sorts of plans have been devised to make the house as cozy as possible, so... Read more...
Getting ready for the party!
Since I'm a fan of lists, I naturally have one for the dollhouse too. There are still quite a few things on it, but that's the fun of it. I then look at my list and pick something I feel like making. This time, it was cakes for the party (if the girl gets the dollhouse, there'll be a party in the house, of course) and bunting to hang up. My son and I made the flags together. He cut out the ends, and I sewed them together and threaded... Read more...
For the wardrobe
It's getting more and more fun! This time I made a clothes rack to store clothes, shoes, and any other items. I found a tutorial on Pinterest for making clothes hangers from large paperclips. It's as simple as it gets. Pinterest is so handy. And here's the introduction of Cat... Besides rabbits, hares, and mice, Maileg also makes cats. So naturally, I wanted to give that a shot. And here's the result. Cat is almost 30 cm tall and she's wearing a homemade spring outfit. The girl thinks Cat is... Read more...
At the ironing
Finished another thing for the dollhouse! A while ago, I found a set of tin miniatures at the thrift store—a place I've been going to at least once every two weeks lately. This little iron was one of them. Overjoyed, I took the set home for the enormous sum of 2 euros. Now I could get started on my ironing board! At first, I was wondering where I could find a small iron if I were to make one myself... problem solved! Last week, I started on the ironing board.... Read more...
Sunday...washing day?
Today I finished the clothes horse for the dollhouse. Sometimes I have so many unfinished things lying around that I don't know where to start. So when I finished the two bags I ordered (yes, actually sold two bags!?), I started on the clothes horse that had been there for a while. They used to have those wooden clothes horses from Maileg, but I think they were a bit larger. Now they've changed everything from wood to metal, and I've kept the size of the metal horse: 15 cm high,... Read more...
New outfit? A bag is essential!
She felt she needed a little bag to go with her new outfit... So I crocheted one for her. It perfectly coordinated with the dress I'd made for her. The bag can be up to four different colors, but certain colors can be used more often. Read more...
Funny
I recently came across this one in the attic... The bottom one, of course, because the top one is a Maileg hedgehog. What's so funny about it, I think, is that I made the bottom one. I think that was about 10 years ago. I think it looks so much like the Maileg one! Was I already subconsciously inspired by them back then...? I came across this at the thrift store this week and couldn't resist... I'm thinking of turning it into a pastry cart with the rabbits and mice!... Read more...
Maileg Micro Cardigan Pattern
Isn't it adorable?! I think the cardigan for the Micro Bunny turned out great. The little girl picked out the colors herself 🙂 For those interested, here's the pattern. I'm no knitting expert, so maybe not everything is according to the rules! I knitted with cotton and size 2 needles. It's not very complicated, but it was a bit fiddly! back panel: Cast on 18 stitches with light pink. knit 1 row and purl 1 row. Now knit 1 row and purl 1 row with dark pink knit the next... Mini, mini, mini bottle!
Actually, I wanted to crochet a bottle and the tip, the teat as it were, should have been yellow... Crocheting is not my strong point, at least not when it has to be a specific shape and I didn't have any yellow at home 🙂 But both husband and children immediately saw what it was supposed to represent, so I say: approved! The result: the wrap and the hare
As promised, pictures of the two things I made last week. I have to admit, making the bias tape around the micro Maileg bunny's towel was quite a challenge...not my finest work either. The mini bunny is from a homemade pattern. I made a pair of underwear to go with it, which can also be removed. I ordered some nice thin Velcro online, which would be great for using with those little clothes. How many inhabitants should actually be in the house? Maybe it would be fun to throw in...
