How to create a playful yet minimalist children's corner
Every now and then I change up the kids' corner. I've shown you our kids' corner before. It's a lovely, bright, and tidy space where the kids can play happily. It's a long, low table with a few toys and two chairs. Every now and then I swap out the toys and create a space to help the kids get started with their pretend play. This time I've created a sort of kitchen nook. It's a very simple stove consisting of a hotplate with turning knobs. I placed a small... Read more...
New in the webshop: Moulin Roty
Proud of the new brand 'Moulin Roty' in the webshop! This French brand has stood for dreams and softness for 40 years. The tradition of "Des jouets d'hier pour enfants d'aujourd'hui," or "Toys from yesterday for children of today," is the concept where young children experience the games and toys of the past, while simultaneously encouraging parents and caregivers. Grandparents can relive the toys of their own childhoods. The brand also stands for excellent quality and wonderfully soft, beautiful materials. The colors are very refined and French chic—in short, one... Read more...
Which toys are suitable for a baby from 6 to 12 months
In this blog post I will give 10 play and toy tips for babies aged 6-12 months Toys to play with while sitting At around nine months, babies can often sit. Toys that allow them to sit are now a great option. This shape sorter can be a lot of fun, especially to do together. You can stack the blocks together (and then knock them over, which is even more fun) and put the blocks in and out of the sorter. Sliding the lid can also be part of the... Read more...
Days Efteling great and Droomvlucht a favorite!
We had a wonderful time at Efteling! Last year, when the children were 1.5 and 4.5, we went too. The youngest didn't really get much of it then. It was even more fun to see how much something can change over the course of a year. The Droomvlucht was especially favorite with the youngest. Luckily, the oldest still prefers fairy tales and fantasy, so we all had a wonderful time wandering around the enchanted forest together. This time we also went on a few rides on Joris en de Draak... A day at Efteling? A whole weekend!
A day at Efteling isn't enough for us. Not only because it takes half the day to get there, but also because we're addicted to Efteling. The music, the magic, the special feeling and the wonder makes it a wonderful experience for us every time. My husband and I used to go with a group of friends, and in recent years we've been going with the kids. And yes, for three days at a time. We'll stay overnight at Bosrijk, which is an experience in itself, with all the Santa... Read more...
Autumn: fun outdoor play!
Everyone put on their boots, grab a bag or basket, and off into the woods! It's so much fun to search for beautiful leaves, chestnuts, or acorns together. Then, at home, you can make all sorts of things with the finds. You can even let your baby enjoy autumn by taking a lovely stroll with the hood down. (Yes, I admit, this isn't the best thing to do when it's raining.) As I write this, it's raining outside. Ugh, you think, that means being stuck inside all day again. But... Read more...
Which toys are suitable for a baby from 0 to 6 months
Which toys are suitable for a baby aged 0 to 6 months? Below, I'll give you 11 toy tips. Exploring with the mouth In the beginning, babies sleep a lot and don't need much. They discover the world around them through their senses: seeing, feeling, and experiencing. They learn a lot by exploring with their mouths. Everything attached to the toy must be securely fastened so they can't accidentally swallow it. The Sophie la Girafe rattle allows for a lot of oral exploration and is safe. Playing in the box... Which toys are right for my child?
Sound familiar? You're watching your child play. They're entertaining themselves little by little, going from one thing to the next. They're always looking for a moment of attention, then searching for something else. There could be several reasons for this, of course: they're not feeling well, they've had a busy day, or they're simply having an off day. Too much can also be a cause, or they might not be (or no longer be) offering the right toys. I've blogged about the first aspect, too many toys, in my previous... Read more...
Skattich webshop open!
Phew! You think, "Great, starting an online store! There's a lot to do." But it's all been fantastic, and although there's still so much to do, we've now officially launched the online store. The Skattich blog's look and feel has been incorporated into the renovation, and the topics I'll be writing about in the future will focus on play and toys. I hope to get back to making my own toys soon, and I'll definitely share more about it then. A DIY pattern here and there would be nice too.... Read more...

Tip: less toys makes them play more!
Fewer toys...so...if you look at the title of this post, you'd think I have some really bad sales tactics! But this is exactly what I experienced during our holiday in France. I already knew it, and it's been on my to-do list for a while, but now I know for sure: put those toys away regularly! I might as well have left the crate of toys I brought for the kids at home. A few things were regularly brought out during the 12 days, but most of them didn't see... Read more...
