Fewer toys...so...if you look at the title of this post, you'd think I have some really bad sales tactics! But this is exactly what I experienced during our holiday in France. I already knew it, and it's been on my to-do list for a while, but now I know for sure: put those toys away regularly! I might as well have left the crate of toys I brought for the kids at home.
A few things were regularly brought out during the 12 days, but most of them didn't see the outside of the crate. The apple house, which was part of the countdown kit from the previous post, was a firm favorite, along with tea with the Maileg bunnies.
I also see that they can play much longer and more intensely with those few things, especially because they don't get any extra stimulation or distractions. We really need to get back to work around the house: throwing things away, taking them to the thrift store and giving them away, and temporarily putting things in the attic so we can rotate them occasionally. I did this often with our oldest when he was three. I let him look at the things and sort them into three different boxes. Later, a few things were moved between boxes (I actually still like those, Mom...), but overall, it went well.
We'll add it to the list, and then I'll blog about it, but the biggest to-do list with the highest priority right now is the webshop. Phew, there's more to it than I thought! I've already placed a few orders with suppliers, and now I'm working on the design and text for the website, along with other things that still need to be arranged, like getting a webshop quality mark, iDEAL, packaging materials, and so on! It's incredibly fun to do, especially because it's all my own and there are so many different aspects to it. Luckily, I don't have to do it all by myself; my husband is helping me. Unfortunately, there's a thick layer of dust on the sewing machine now, and I'm afraid that layer will only get thicker. If all goes well, I hope to include homemade items in the shop, but unfortunately, I don't have the time for that right now (I also have a 28-hour-a-week job...). The new plans are giving me a lot of energy, though, so I'll keep going!
