A day at Efteling isn't enough for us. Not only because it takes half the day to get there, but also because we're addicted to Efteling.
The music, the magic, the special feeling and the wonder makes it a wonderful experience for us every time. My husband and I used to go with a group of friends, and in recent years we've been going with the kids. And yes, for three days at a time. We'll stay overnight at Bosrijk, which is an experience in itself, with all the Santa Claus nightcaps and duvets. Now we're going again, and I'm really looking forward to it. I'm just a big kid, really... maybe that's why I'm at the toy store? Hmm, haha! A weekend like this (it's not actually a weekend, but it's not a midweek break either...) also fits perfectly within the minimalist concept. Instead of buying something for your children, offer them a day out. Not only the visit is part of the experience, but also the afterglow. They can draw, craft, and play with clay. They can get out their dress-up clothes and act out fairy tales. Or reenact them with the dollhouse (e.g., Hansel and Gretel, or Sleeping Beauty and the Princess on the Pea are good examples!). Reading about it aloud or just looking at the pictures is also a fun way to do it together. For dressing up and role-playing, we have some really cute suitcases in our webshop, for a fairy , a pirate , and an Indian . The angel, princess, and princess mouse on the pea from Maileg are also fantastic, of course. It just needs to arrive from Denmark first (hopefully by the end of October, as Maileg is experiencing some transport issues).
Okay, I'm going to start packing. I'll report back next time!
