Tips for long-distance travel with young children
On holiday to France, in three weeks it's time! Really looking forward to it! But also a long car ride... Luckily, I've come up with something to break the boredom: the countdown suitcase. Inside the countdown suitcase are little things like toys, candy, books, etc., that you can give your child every so often. It breaks up the time, giving them something to do and look forward to. They can also actually see how long the trip is left because the presents in the suitcase are gradually decreasing. Do you... Read more...
Webshop with toys!
And there we were at the Chamber of Commerce. Because I'm going to start an online store, exciting! The idea came to me while searching online for the umpteenth time for unique toys for my children. Where I live, what I'm looking for is never for sale! My dream is to actually open a real toy store. One where you can completely lose yourself, one where children can play, one with beautiful and imaginative toys, one where you just go regularly because it's so much fun 🙂 First things first!... Project Maileg dollhouse is completed!
A genuine Maileg dollhouse, made entirely by myself and furnished with Maileg furniture. A true showpiece, I can only say. And she's so happy with it and plays with it beautifully. I have to admit, it took quite a few hours, especially my father's. But it was worth it. Together we planned how the dollhouse should look. And while my father was measuring, sawing, carpentry, and painting, I went hunting for things. And what a hunt... It came from everywhere: Marktplaats (marketplace), thrift stores, flea markets, toy stores. I visited... Read more...
Refurbish and pimp a retro doll's cradle
Tadaa!! The rattan doll's crib I bought on Marktplaats has a new bed and decorations! Here's how it looks now: and he was like this: The mattress has a new cover. One side is gold-colored satin and the other is beautiful natural cotton. I made the cozy duvet cover from the pink harlequin fabric I also used for the Skatich doll's bag . The other side is a wonderfully soft white wrap that I don't use anymore. The small cushion has the same solid pink on both sides. Finally, I... Read more...
Also so many toys in your living room?
For the past year, I've been focusing on the children's toys, or rather, the sheer presence of them. About a year ago, I decided to see if there was a better way. First, I did a major clearout. We had a nice, large cabinet with doors made. We threw out the sideboard and put everything neatly in the closed cabinet. That's a lot calmer already. Of course, there are certain toys, like balance bikes and a doll's pram, that don't fit in the cabinet. The trick is to arrange them... Read more...
Ik heb er één, een Kanindocka stoffen pop!
I have one, a Kanindocka cloth doll!

Busy with clothes for the doll
Busy! I have a lot on my list, because in a month it's the girl's birthday, and of course, the dollhouse has to be finished. My dad's already made a lot of progress, and I still have to make some mattresses and paint a few pieces of furniture. It's going to be so beautiful! But now it's all about the new clothes for the doll—the Skattich doll, of course. The hats are still a bit of a work in progress, as they're not coming together very well. So far, the... Read more...
New photos of the dollhouse
Did I tell you how incredibly beautiful the Maileg dollhouse is? The design is now becoming a reality. The Maileg mice and rabbits will be living here nicely. Just one more month and it should be ready for the little girl's birthday... furniture and other accessories are already waiting in their places. There's a small loft up in the attic for the mice... yuck! They'll get a real mattress from me too. There will be a small ladder in front of the house that will also allow you to open... Read more...
First version of my own skattichpop!
Here she is, the first Skattich doll! My idea was for the doll to be incredibly cute, and I think this one definitely has that. I didn't want to make a standard face, hence the eyes. I feel like the doll has a little bit of a chuckle. What do you think? The doll itself doesn't have ears; they're attached to the hat. The idea is for the doll to have different hats with different ears. This way, it could be different animals: a bunny, a mouse, a cat, a... Read more...
In development: our own skattichpop
This week I started with a new idea that I'm really excited about: my own skattich doll with accessories. My initial idea was to make two more Maileg-style bunnies with a skattich twist for the dollhouse, but then I suddenly realized I want to design, create, and create my own doll. I use the word "want" deliberately, because knowing me, it's doubtful whether something like that will work out, as it often doesn't quite turn out exactly as I envisioned. But I'm excited to make it a success! So, first,... Read more...
