For the past year, I've been focusing on the children's toys, or rather, the sheer presence of them. About a year ago, I decided to see if there was a better way. First, I did a major clearout. We had a nice, large cabinet with doors made. We threw out the sideboard and put everything neatly in the closed cabinet. That's a lot calmer already. Of course, there are certain toys, like balance bikes and a doll's pram, that don't fit in the cabinet. The trick is to arrange them in a way that looks nice, so they don't clutter your living room. So, I try to keep the gifts organized... unfortunately, that doesn't always work 😉 (and you'll always see that they end up being favorites!)
A good example of what I like to call "stylish, responsible toys" is the dollhouse. My father and I are currently embarking on a mega-project. In about two weeks, it will be in the living room, so I'm doing some preparations for that too. Things will need to be rearranged here and there. The little corner of the house with the doll's playpen, high chair, and ironing board will soon make way for the dollhouse. While I was thinking about this, I did encounter a potential problem... My little girl loves her dolls and stuffed animals, so of course, they can't be put away! After some browsing on Pinterest, I found the solution:
And in the meantime I've also managed to score a beautiful example: a sweet retro doll's cradle.
It looks great in the living room, and the dolls can all find a nice spot in it. I'm absolutely thrilled. Now I need to get started on making it into something nice so it really complements the living room, because as it is now, it doesn't really fit!
