With this supplement to the ‘Cute little squirrel and hedgehog’ pattern booklet, you can make a Little, Mini and Baby Squirrel as well as the Big Squirrel. This way, your own squirrel family will grow into a cosy little group of four!

And what could be more fun than giving such a family its own wardrobe? In this supplement, you’ll find various patterns for mini outfits, specially designed for the Fluffy tail Family. You can mix and match to your heart’s content and give your squirrels their own unique style.

Do you have other handmade mini animals of your own? Then you can use the size chart (see photo) to check whether the outfits will fit your little friends too.

✽ Patterns and instructions for making mini outfits. For all four sizes of squirrel (Big, Little, Mini and Baby), you can make two different dresses, a skirt, a jumpsuit and a shirt or jumper. The pattern for the trousers is available for three sizes of squirrel, but not for the baby. The clothes for the Big Squirrel are also suitable for the hedgehog.

✽ A size chart to check whether the clothes will also fit other mini animals.

The dimensions given for the squirrels are measured excluding the ears.

What fabrics do you need?

For the squirrels

You can use cotton, linen, flannel or velvet, amongst other things. For the body, a fabric weighing around 160–180 g/m² works best. It is best to choose a fabric that does not fray too much. 

For the tail, you can use faux fur, but you can of course also use the same fabric as for the body.

For the mini outfits

There are many fabrics suitable for mini outfits, such as cotton, jersey, velour and muslin. The instructions always specify which fabrics are suitable for the garment in question.

Tip: upcycle! Make the most of what you already have. Fabric offcuts, old clothes and textiles from the charity shop are ideal for giving your squirrels and their outfits a unique look. Ribbons and lace also come in very handy. Not sure about a particular fabric? Try it out on a scrap first.
