It took a fair amount of patience, but the result is impressive, if I do say so myself. I estimate there are about 250 butterflies in the heart. Instructions:
First, I painted a 70x70cm MDF board. The green, celadon-like color came from a bottle of hobby paint from Action. On the MDF board, I lightly drew a heart with chalk. I ordered a large butterfly punch and black paper from a hobby webshop. I made tons of butterflies with that, and then... glue them on! Just randomly glued butterflies on... and on... I glued them on alternately with two wings up, right wing, left wing. I also varied the direction they flew. Finally, I glued a butterfly outside the heart here and there, and on the left side, I glued them so it looked like they were "flying out." Later, after hanging them, my son and I glued a few more on the wall (that's only allowed now because of the artwork, you know that, right...? :)). I have to say, I'm quite proud of it.
