Dollhouse of the Month September: Guest blogger Lolkje writes about her dollhouse: 'So fun and soooo addictive'.

And here's the second dollhouse of the month, for September. Lolkje Ziel also makes such beautiful dollhouses and has compiled everything for us and taken some beautiful photos.

Lolkje says: My first blog post, super fun, but where do I begin? I've already created about 12 of them, so much fun, and soooo addictive.
I came into contact with this through Annemieke Molenaar-Koopman in March 2017, and I fell in love immediately.
I quickly discovered everything on Instagram, and a whole new world opened up for me. So much inspiration, I didn't know where to begin.
I have always been creative, I used to renovate all kinds of furniture, but due to lack of space I stopped.
But a new hobby was born, started with the IKEA house, but it was finished quite quickly and too full, because there are so many nice dollhouses available that I couldn't resist collecting everything.

My favorite house is definitely Villa Fleur (picture 1), a beautiful house with a pointed roof, a lovely spiral staircase, balconies, and those lovely little windows. I've already made two of them, and number 3 is in the living room.

I think the house I just finished is beautiful and atmospheric. I have no idea what the name of the house is, but this house deserved a makeover.

The house has two doors at the front that you can open to enter the building, which was purchased through Marktplaats. Before the makeover, the house looked like this (see photo below).

And now like this:

The house has 3 floors, so I can really express my creativity there.

I'm painting the house with primer and semi-gloss paint, both water-based, and quality paint from the hardware store. Water-based paint ensures that the white stays truly white. Turpentine-based paint discolors quite quickly and turns yellow.

On the ground floor, I created the living room and dining room. The spaces are separated by the beautiful, sleek white staircase. For the floor, I often use paper blocks from Action, or printables from Pinterest or Google. I use a cutting machine to get nice, straight cuts. The same goes for the walls.

The corner sofa with cushions on the ground floor is from Skattich. I cut the rug from a piece of deep-pile fabric I received from someone in the "Modern Dollhouses" Facebook group. The little table was made by a creative person from that group. It's very easy to make yourself: a piece of tree bark, a small shopping cart from Aliexpress (just take off the wheels along the way), and you have a beautiful table.

The stove is also available at Skattich. It was originally black, but I painted it pink myself using powder pink decorative paint from Action.

I bought the dining set on Aliexpress, it's beautiful, sleek white. On the table are cute homemade cakes from Madame Mini (Facebook).

On the second floor I made a children's room and the bathroom.

I bought the tub at a dollhouse store. It had an oak base and gold threads around the tub. I stripped all of that off, leaving this beautiful, sleek white tub.

The nursery has a crib that I made myself out of wood, buying a sheet of wood from the hardware store and marking out the size I wanted. The bedding was made by someone from the Facebook group "modern dollhouses."

I found the beautiful rabbit print on Pinterest, printed it out on photo paper and stuck it on the wall.

The blocks with names and the paper bag are from Studio Little Sissy, the mushroom set is from Dream Doors, the fur on the floor is from Skattich and the cute panda garland is from 100% Party.

For the separation on the upper floor I used a room divider, which I got from Nancy Enderink (she has a shop on Instagram called sophieswarehouse).

I chose to paint the walls here light gray to create a nice play of color, which is continued in the French doors of the dollhouse.

I made the wobbler myself, very simple to make from a tongue depressor (the DIY can be found on my Instagram page Lolkjes.dollhouse).

Then there's the master bedroom. I got the bed from another house once. It was made of natural wood, and I painted it white. My mother sewed the bedding. I'm not very handy, and my mother loves it. It's also just really fun and enjoyable to spend an afternoon being creative with my mother.

The bedspread on the bed is from Skattich.

I ordered the beautiful armchair through Etsy, a site where many different shops offer their dollhouse items. I highly recommend taking a look, but the only drawback is the high shipping costs.

The swan clothes rack with skirts is truly my centerpiece in my dollhouse. This one is from Mostlyminatures, and the skirts are from tinyperfectworld (Instagram accounts). I bought the items on Etsy. It cost me an arm and a leg, but I was so in love with it for so long that I finally had the courage to order it, blindfolded when I paid.

I made the cute crib myself. It was quite a fiddly job, but I finally managed it.

The bed is a miniature version of the Smallstuf doll bed; they also have a larger version. It's a showpiece in your room and home, and I thought, how nice would it be to put it in your dollhouse?

The dolls that appear in my dollhouses are Sonny Angels or the cute mice from Maileg.

I hope I have been able to inspire you, and I hope my tips can be useful to you.

Kind regards, Lolkje
