#Dollhousereno: Mouse-Petes-Sinterklaas-warehouse-dollhouse

I've asked everyone on Instagram and Facebook to join #Dollhousereno in October. This October, I'd love it if everyone on Instagram and/or Facebook showed off all their dollhouse decorating progress using the hashtag Dollhousereno (#Dollhousereno, which just means "dollhouse renovation," of course). You can choose to do one room or multiple rooms. Want to join in? It doesn't take much! All you need to do is make sure your account is public. Every time you post a photo, tag it with #Dollhousereno. Everyone searching for #Dollhousereno can admire each other's progress. Fun, right? And it doesn't have to be finished by the end of the month! After that, you can just keep going. This month, I'll be working on my thrift store-bought warehouse, which I want to turn into a Mouse Pete warehouse. And I'll post some tips here and there on social media and in the blog on the website. But of course, I'll also share your fun creations, because the best part is that we all share the same fun hobby.

And then, before you go shopping, you quickly walk through the thrift store and you see this dollhouse:

It's a bit spotty and missing a few doors, but I can immediately picture a Maileg mouse warehouse! So, grab it and take it home! It's been cleaned up and looks like this:

It's about 85 cm high and 40 cm wide, and I've already made a plan outlining the colors and the rooms I need. I always do this first. This way, I can narrow down the paint, wallpaper, and furniture needs.

Since the wood is still a bit patchy after cleaning, I'm going to paint it white. I really wanted to make a natural wood dollhouse this time, but I'll have to do that next time 😉 I don't want to keep the doors red (I'm really not a fan of red, so that's going to be a challenge with a "mouse-piet-Sinterklaas warehouse"). I'm not sure yet, but I think I'll leave the insides of the doors white and paint the outsides pastel colors. It does, of course, have to be a cheerful house.

The list of rooms is now as follows:

  • Kitchen
  • Saint room
  • Piet's bedroom
  • Sinterklaas' bedroom
  • Dining area
  • Storage for the toys
  • Storage for the presents
  • Dressing room
  • Gymnastics room
  • Music room

It's obvious that these are too many rooms, so I'm going to go through my remaining items first to decide on rooms. Based on that, I'll determine what else I need.

To be continued!
